Welcome

Welcome to DJchopstick's picks. a new food blog for Vancouver and spots around Vancouver through the eyes of a young budding chef. I believe that you can walk down any street and find a good looking place to eat, but people don't think about it and that's why I'm here to tell you stop, think and walk in. I will try to post weekly for more local establishments and monthly for ones not in Vancouver. Hope you enjoy.

The Mac Shack

The Mac Shack has some of the best Mac'n'Cheese ever. I had the bacon cheese burger one and it was awesome. The garnish (which was parsley) actually adds flavor instead of just making it look nice and they serve it in these cool cast iron pans. Some problems were that even though it was unique, it still felt like paying $40 (which is 1 small and 1 large) for Macaroni and cheese. But I still strongly recommend it.

Talay Thai Restaurant

This restaurant serves some good Thai food. A very cool thing they have is CHICKEN STUFFED CHICKEN!! I Kid you not and this is just an appetizer!! The ambiance is kinda dim though and it seems like there's only one waiter (it's small though so i guess that's why) but all an all it's good. Enjoy :)

Risty's cafe and sushi bar

First of, I'm so sorry I was gone so long my computer crashed and it took a long time to fix, but I'm starting up again. I've been to Risty's cafe a lot of times, it is one of the best cafe's ever!!! I will admit I have yet to try to sushi, but I will soon. They have some pretty awesome burgers, like the Cajun chicken burger, it is a grilled chicken breast with the best Cajun seasoning. And there's the super burger and that is a pattie, bacon, cheese, mushrooms (but I never get mushrooms with it) and a fried egg, you have to try these burgers. Enjoy =)

KYO

Today i went to KYO, a Korean all you can eat restaurant  that lets you make your own BBQ beef, pork and chicken. And since it was Korean, they had Kimchi but I did not care for it. it tasted like some sort of chemical and it wasn't even that spicy but I still suggest it to anyone who likes Kimchi. I also tried some Gyoza (dumplings) and Sushi. the pork dumplings and California Rolls + Salmon Rolls those were probably the best things on the menu. They were sweet and savory and in good portion sizes. the scenery was amazing all the tables had that cool BBQ in the middle and the smell you get when you walk in is awesome its like really, really good BBQ. Before it was KYO it was called Shabusan it was still Korean. but it had a different name. I was supposed to go there for a birthday but it had closed down. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to try making Korean BBQ and anyone who feel like stuffing there face, but you better finish it the policy is "you must finish everything you order or you pay full price". Enjoy =)
